Security Awareness Training
The DePaul Cybersecurity Clinic hosts interative workshops for security awareness training to community nonprofits and students. Our experience with security risk assessments for have identified common areas where many nonprofits need training. These workshops address a core security program development need: how to identify red flags of a prospective malicious incident, and how to plan for handling a cyber attack. Workshops are hosted at DePaul's Loop campus. Private requests at an organization's work site will be considered.
In this interactive workshop, the audience engages in a simulated cyber attack involving a vishing attack, identity impersonation, AI-generated fraudulent documents, and fraud that leads to a credit union error and financial loss. A discussion follows on the security weaknesses the fictitious organization had that enabled the attack to occur. Finally, lessons are shared on secure measures to implement to prevent such an attack.
In this interactive workshop, security risk scenarios involving AI use illustrate areas of planning, decision-making, and governance that is needed to responsibly adopt AI technologies in an organizatoin. Lessons gained from these scenarios serve as input for workshop participants to design governance policy.
This table top exercise is a discussion-based walkthrough of a simulated cybersecurity attack used to prompt consideration and planning of how an organization might respond in real-life if such an attack were to occur. A focus is on identifying the roles, responsibilities, and decisions to make at the height of responding to a cyber attack. Participants can use insights gained from the table top exercise to plan their organizations' incidence response plans.
